On December 2, WeTV Thailand thrilled BL fans with a major teaser: the live-action adaptation of one of Japan’s most beloved boys’ love manga. Following the success of Love Stage, the platform hinted at their next big project with a mysterious visual — a drop of “honey” and a silhouette that resembled the manga cover.
Fans quickly began to speculate, and on December 5, WeTV officially confirmed the news:
They are adapting “Dakaichi: I’m Being Harassed by the Sexiest Man of the Year” by Hashigo Sakurabi into a Thai BL live-action series.
Originally serialized in Japan, Dakaichi has long enjoyed success across various formats.
The manga follows Takato Saijo, a seasoned actor who has been voted the “Sexiest Man of the Year” five years in a row. But his streak ends when up-and-coming young actor Junta Azumaya snatches the title away.
While Takato sees Junta as a rival, things take an unexpected turn when he realizes Junta deeply admires him — and is in love with him. What begins as tension soon evolves into a complicated and passionate relationship full of rivalry, vulnerability, and romance.
The announcement marks another step forward for Thailand’s booming BL drama industry, known for producing hits that resonate globally. Dakaichi brings a mix of emotional depth, glamour, and slow-burn romance — all the right ingredients for a successful adaptation.
Fans are eagerly waiting to see:
While WeTV has confirmed the project, a release date has not yet been announced. The drama is expected to stream exclusively on WeTV Thailand, with international subtitles likely to follow.
With its mix of star power, romantic drama, and rich emotional tension, Dakaichi is a perfect candidate for live-action success. Whether you’re a longtime fan of the manga or new to the series, this upcoming Thai BL adaptation is definitely one to watch.
